    Selffish

    (LV)

Selffish (aka Andrew Eigus) is a digital music producer who composes laid-back melodies. He fuses those melodies with minimal beats to create original and organic ambient sounds and an ethereal listening experience. To add another layer to his music, Selffish incorporates field recordings from within and outside the city of Riga, grand piano recordings, as well as other acoustic instruments and the human voice. This unique mixture of computer-processed music and natural sounds creates an atmosphere of melancholic beauty. Selffish also works with other musicians and artists, such as Joseph Santori and Joe Frempong, among others.

Andrew Eigus was born in Riga in 1973. He studied computer science at a computer science college. Though having no formal music education, he had been a member of a junior choir for several years. Selffish has been playing the piano since the age of 6 and started composing/improvising at a very early age. With the advent of new technologies, Selffish began dedicating his time to exploring all kinds of acoustic landscapes in a digital working environment. In 2002, Selffish and partner DJ Ivarx founded their own ambient/IDM lounge record label called ?+371 records?, where Selffish released his first CD album called "Blue Planet Chill". Later, in 2004, the album was re-released on the Lagunamuch label in Moscow. Selffish has also produced two albums and contributed several separate tracks to compilations, as well as done remixes for various labels.
